CARA GRAY
bodywork for the equine athlete
ABOUT
Cara Gray,
Equinology® Equine Bodyworker
As a lifelong horse lover and trainer, my relationship with the animal shifted considerably after starting my journey as a bodyworker, and more specifically when I began applying a light touch. Suddenly I was no longer controlling their moves and environment or trying to "fix" them, but instead simply being present with them, whatever state they are in. The power of healing that exists within that space is profound. The body instantly leans into homeostasis and by tuning into the Craniosacral rhythm, I'm able to easily pick up on where the body needs addressing.
My education through The Equinology® Institute gave me a deep understanding of anatomy, physiology and the best techniques to address the muscular system. It also gave me tools to mobilize areas that had previously been restricted within the spine. My passion, however, is with CranioSacral Therapy. It is a form of bodywork that connects the practitioner with the inner fluid rhythms of the body through an exceptionally light touch approach, which allows for a much finer, more intuitive palpation involving the fascial system. After completing the first 2 levels of education for (human) Craniosacral Therapy Techniques through the Upledger Institute, I found myself excited to use my knowledge and intuitive feel on people as well as horses. I'm currently in training to further my knowledge base by adding hypnosis facilitator to my resume.
